The Shenendehowa Girls Volleyball Team is once again sponsoring a Personal Care item collection during our Columbus Day Conquest Tournament on 10/8/11, to support the Chamber of Southern Saratoga County’s Women in Business Committee.  This initiative supports women and children who are victims of domestic violence seeking shelter through Saratoga County’s Domestic Violence Rape Crisis Services.  Most victims leave their homes without any personal belongings.

Personal care items needed most are skin, body and hair care, razors, toothpaste, deodorant, make up and feminine care items (both full and travel size).  Samples from hotels and department stores are welcome.  For health and safety concerns, please ensure all items are unopened.

We encourage our players to ask friends and family to donate as well.  Time spent collecting these items can count towards Volunteer Hours.  Just think of all those unused samples of make-up, and the little zipper cases they come with that most of us have from those “free with purchase” promotions at the department store.  The Booster Club has also asked our participating teams to help us with this effort.   Last year’s collection was an awesome one.

Thank you for helping those in need right here in our own community.
