The Shenendehowa Girls’ Varsity Volleyball team successfully defended their home court on Saturday 10/08, winning a thrilling three set finale vs. Section 1 Arlington High School to capture the Columbus Day Conquest Tournament crown. Both teams finished atop their pool in the morning’s round robin action. In the best-of-three semi-finals, Shen defeated Guilderland in two sets while Saratoga took Arlington the distance before dropping the deciding third set. In the Championship match, Shen defeated Arlington by a 25-20 score. Arlington evened the match with a 25-17 victory in the second. After a back and forth battle in set three, Shen emerged victorious with a 25-22 win to take home the title. Freshman, Hayley Macken was selected to the All-Tournament Team and Senior, Hunter Drews was named Tournament MVP. The JV team also finished their day victoriously, defeating Arlington in the Finals match, with scores of 25-21 and 25-22. Freshman Colleen Connelly and Connie Krause were both named to the JV All-Tournament Team. The Shen Volleyball Booster Club took up a collection of personal care items to support the Chamber of Southern Saratoga County’s Baskets of Hope. |
